At Mela Vitamins, we believe in wellness that’s real, personal, and rooted in the unique needs of our community. That’s why we’re so excited to introduce you to Catherine Miller (@catherineamiller) – a healer, teacher, and guide whose work is all about helping people slow down, reconnect with themselves, and heal from the inside out.
We connected with Catherine through the Melanin Wellness Club, where she hosted a deeply calming Yoga Nidra session. Her energy is grounding, her voice instantly puts you at ease, and her story is powerful.
After overcoming a brain tumor in her early 20s, Catherine has transformed her personal healing journey into a mission to help others reconnect with themselves and find peace. Today, she’s changing lives - one breath, one session, one act of self-care at a time.
We sat down with Catherine to learn more about her journey, her work, and her approach to self-care. If you're navigating your own healing path or just trying to create a little more peace in your life, this one's for you.
What's inside
I work at an Integrative Wellness and Holistic Healing Center called Four Directions Wellness in Northern Virginia. I provide Reiki sessions (both in-person and virtual), and I also teach Reiki Levels 1, 2, and 3.
Outside of that, I lead yoga classes and corporate wellness programming, all with the same mission: to help people relax, reconnect, and live with more presence. My goal is always to offer tools that support the whole person – mind, body, and spirit.
Honestly, it started with my own health journey. As a child and teenager, I had multiple health challenges and surgeries that forced me to think about healing differently.
Professionally, I’ve been doing this work for over 10 years now. I’m a Reiki Master Teacher, a 200-hour registered yoga teacher through the Kripalu School of Yoga, and I have an M.S. in Nutrition. I’m also trained in Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra, sound healing, and health coaching.
Helping people live well – and fully – is what keeps me going. There’s so much power in slowing down and learning how to listen to what your body really needs.
For me, it’s about awareness and presence. I try to stay in tune with my mind, body, and spirit – and ask what they need in the moment. Some days it’s a walk outside, other days it’s meditation or eating nourishing foods.
Over time, I’ve built a toolbox of practices I can turn to. But the most important thing is listening. That’s something we all have access to – you don’t need a certification or special training to get quiet and ask, “What do I need right now?” That’s where true wellness begins.
Start with what feels sustainable. If your routine drains you or feels like pressure, it’s not serving you. Wellness doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive – it just has to be yours.
Also: listen to your body. That’s something I’ve learned the hard way.
When I was 24, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor – something I suspected for years but couldn’t get doctors to take seriously. I had to advocate for myself repeatedly, even when it felt exhausting. And when they finally ran the tests, they found what I had been sensing all along.
That experience taught me that we know our bodies better than anyone else. If something feels off, trust that instinct. Keep advocating for your health. Your body is always communicating with you – it’s up to us to listen.
You can find me at Four Directions Wellness where I offer Reiki sessions, yoga, and integrative healing support. I also teach Reiki certification classes if you’re interested in learning how to share the practice with others.
If you’re looking for a moment to rest, reset, or reconnect with yourself, I’d love to support you.
