We are thrilled to announce that Mela Vitamins has been selected as one of six winners of the 2023 Glossier Grant. This groundbreaking program invests in Black beauty entrepreneurs, aiming to address the historical inequities and exclusions in the industry. Since 2020, Glossier has partnered with visionary founders by providing grant funding, curated business programming, and valuable resources. Being the first supplement company included in this program is not only a success for Mela Vitamins, but a win for other companies making strides and pushing boundaries in an industry where people of color are often overlooked and undervalued.
Here at Mela, we are on a mission to transform the beauty and wellness industry with products designed specifically for melanated people. We believe that the foundation of beauty starts from within, which means we need to nourish our bodies with the nutrients that our skin, hair and nails actually need. You can learn more about how melanin creates unique nutritional needs, which vitamins support textured hair growth and the nutrients that nourish melanin-rich skin on our Melafesto Blog.
We are grateful to Glossier for recognizing the importance of our mission and for providing us with a grant and mentorship from their executive team. We are so proud to be a part of this program as we scale our business and expand our innovative inside-out approach to beauty and wellness.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates, we are just getting started!
Glossier - "Mela Vitamins created the first multivitamin formulated specifically for melanated people. Founder Ashley Harmon was inspired to create the brand after her own health issues led her to learn that melanin impacts the way bodies produce certain nutrients, which creates unique nutritional needs that other multivitamins don’t prioritize."
